This presentation will describe how a large urban school district built capacity for delivering AAC services and sustained that momentum through leadership change. The highlight of this initiative, which is in the third year, has been the year-long classes for SLPs. The classes focused on article reading and case study presentation/discussion in the first year. They went on to be more project-based in the second and third years, with topics driven by participant interest and district need. The syllabi of these classes will be shared, along with the results of a survey of class participants. The presentation will also briefly address other ways of building capacity, and how these activities have made a difference in the district.
