Presentation of a speech therapy planning for insertion of the AAC in a rearguard hospital

Objective: To present and discuss the insertion planning of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) conducted by the speech therapy team of FonoClass Trianon, which provides services in a rearguard hospital, Recanto São Camila - Jacana. Method: Planning for insertion of the AAC has two parts, the first is about the patients, which follows the following steps: a) language assessment, b) demand detection, c) survey of the history and interests of patients, d) interaction of patients with resources, e) building AAC boards to attend the main demands e) participation in the AAC group, f) continuous review and adaptation of resources. The institution part followed these steps: a) explanation for the nursing staff about the AAC b) training partnership by the occupational therapist, c) training for multidisciplinary team about AAC, d) negotiation with the management team to get the resources . Results: The work with AAC began in 2015 and the team has already put most of the steps cited in practice, except preparation of individual boards, review and staff training. The AAC group has performed useful both in insertion of AAC resources, as well as patients put the language in operation. Discussion: Although very recent, we already have some good results and achievements in the area. Administrative support and family has been indispensable for program implementation. Conclusion: The CSA inserting planning has worked and gradually adapting the reality of service.
