Film and Tell!
Film as Observable Communication (FaOC) is a method in development through the practical implementation, project “My Film, My Story” , within the school and home setting. In this project "My Film, My Story" children and young adults with CCN learn how to make films of daily life events, for the purpose of telling their story with the assistance of their film. Parallel to the project “My-Film, My-Story”, the FaOC-method is being developed and validated at Radboud University Nijmegen.

The first results demonstrate the enjoyment of the children and their conversational partners using the children’s self-created films during conversational narratives. Conversations, using the assistance of personalized film, were more extended and with more topics than those without film.

The project-assistant of My Film, My Story, who has CCN and uses a wheelchair, will explain how he uses film for storytelling and how he could participate more easily with peers as a filmmaker. During the presentation he will give practical advice on how children and adults can start making films and in that way can participate in storytelling and building relationships, “friendship”.
