Functional Communication Training using image2talk app to reduce challenging behaviour

The subject of this study is a 14 year old male. He has diagnosis on the autistic spectrum and severe and profound learning disabilities. The subject presents with problem behaviours, namely, assaultive behaviour, property destruction, loud vocalisations and self injurious behaviours. He has a long history of these behaviours and they cause great concern to his parents, siblings, care givers and education providers. Functional assessment interviews have been carried out with his parents, care givers and education providers and a behaviour support plan will be formulated in order to implement measures to aim to address quality of life issues and control the target behaviours. The aims of the paper are to use functional communication training to reduce problem behaviours.
