Introduction: Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) can increase the participation of people with communication difficulties in different settings, as shown at the exhibition Cidade Acessível (Accessible City) by Casa da Ciência (Science House), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The exhibition invited the public to experience situations of limited ability to see, hear, walk, and speak in an accessible space, and to reflect on the possibility of a city for everyone. Objective: To present the activities of the Assistive Technology Laboratory of a university in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the Exhibition Cidade Acessível. Methodology: Meetings with the event organizers, exhibition itinerary as the basis for creating communication boards, partnership with Imagina Company to use Vox4all application, and training of the exhibition mediators. Results: Thirty-four communication boards were designed to encourage the participation of people with communication difficulties and those who were experiencing this limitation. The material was organized in different exhibition spaces: entrance, square, bus, and school. AAC resources were available in printed communication boards (organized as a notebook or individually in each environment) and in digital format with the support of Vox4All application installed on tablets. For resource implementation, a training meeting was held with the educational staff of Casa da Ciência and collaboration of an AAC user. Final considerations: The activity of LabAssistiva helped spread Alternative Communication as one of the accessibility items in the culture area.
