People Who Rely on AAC
Many people who rely on augmentative communication to communicate are beginning to recognize their unique community and culture. As a result of their perseverance and leadership AAC is being accepted among family members, teachers and students, doctors and employers, neighbourhood workers and friends.
People who rely on AAC – guided now by an understanding of their human rights – are working to ensure that their rights are being upheld. In doing so they are becoming role models and mentors for children and adults who may become AAC users at any given time. This section “People Who Rely on AAC” is about their challenges and their stories.
