| About the project: The BUILD AAC communities project is an extension of the ISAAC Emerging AAC Nations Committee. The Emerging AAC Nations Committee has existed since the inception of ISAAC. This Committee’s goal is to facilitate the development of AAC in emerging AAC nations by means of sharing information. The BUILD AAC project grew from these activities and is aimed at developing a more formalized support structure for those working in emerging AAC countries by those who work in these countries as well as other ISAAC members around the world. Who is involved? For whom? The BUILD AAC project is intended for all ISAAC members who work to promote AAC in emerging AAC nations including professionals, users of AAC and family members. We realize that expanding the use of AAC worldwide requires dedicated team work and collaborative partnership between all involved. Volunteers: ISAAC has over the years developed a strong network of ISAAC supporters around the world, who are prepared to participate in assisting those in emerging AAC countries. Generally this implies that these individuals are willing to contribute their time once costs can be covered. Most of these ISAAC members are employed full-time, but you are welcome to approach them in sharing ideas on how to promote AAC within your context. This list does change from time to time as individuals’ circumstances change and new people come on board. How you can help. See ISAAC Board and Committees Be part of the EAN listserv The EAN Committee aims to spread knowledge of AAC around the world. The Committee has a listserv, or as it's sometimes called a Mailing list, which anyone can join. Once you have joined the EAN listserv, you can send one e-mail to the list's address and it will be automatically distributed to all the people on the list. You will receive replies and other discussion topics that others email to the listserv. To join the EAN listserv: - Send an email with your first and last name as well as your email address to Liza Rossetti-Siefe (If it's a general email address for an organisation then use the organisation's name.) l-You will then be added to the list and receive an e-mail welcoming you to the list. Become a volunteer ISAAC needs information about your home country, your help and your ongoing involvement in order to make the BUILD AAC communities project a reality. To volunteer simply e-mail Erna Alant the Leader for the BUILD AAC Project. |
