What is ISAAC’s VISION?

AAC will be recognized, valued and used throughout the world.

 

What is ISAAC’s MISSION?

To promote the best possible communication for people with complex communication needs.

 

How does ISAAC accomplish its MISSION?

1. ISAAC has standing Committees that carry out the mission of ISAAC.

2. ISAAC organizes a biennial conference. A research symposium is associated with each biennial conference.

3. ISAAC is organizing an Annual International Awareness Day in several countries around the world

4. ISAAC is developing 3 major projects:

A. BUILD-AAC (Building AAC communities project for the EAN Committee)

B. LEAD-AAC (Leadership project by and for Persons who Rely on AAC)

C. READ-AAC (Research, Education, Awareness, Documentation for the ISAAC Research Committee)

The EAN (Emerging AAC Nations) Committee

The Emerging AAC Nations Committee is a Standing Committee of ISAAC, is responsible to and reports through its co-chairs to the Executive Board.  The Committee is charged with supporting the Society’s membership where economical limitations restrict and influence the participation of these countries in establishment and development of AAC services in accordance with Bylaw.

 

The EAN Committee is responsible for:

- the development of criteria for and distribution of the Committee’s budget and ISAAC biennial conference funding for people using AAC;

- the maintenance of a Listserv and

- distribution of information relating to its discussion topics; for

- maintaining ISAAC’s liaison with Bridge School

- increasing membership in ISAAC via ISAAC sponsored membership program and the 5 and 5 membership program

- making recommendations to the Executive Committee

The PWUAAC (People Who Use AAC) Committee

The People Who Use AAC Committee provides advice to ISAAC on all issues involving people who use AAC, including appointments to the ISAAC Board and Executive Committee, recommendations regarding awards and scholarships available to assist participation in ISAAC Biennial conference.

 

The PWUAAC Committee’s responsibilities include:

- liaising with the EC and Secretariat on issues that affect people using AAC

- raising issues and initiating new  ideas to involve people using AAC

- raising  involvement in ISAAC,  especially at the ISAAC Biennial conference

- involving people using AAC  in  decision making processes of  ISAAC

- distribution of the travel fund money to ISAAC members who wish to attend the biennial conferences
