Special Education

Educators ensure that their students, from kindergarten through high school, have the communication and writing tools necessary to participate in various subjects and classrooms. Recognizing the need to support each other in the challenging task of teaching children who rely on AAC, teachers are support one another by sharing their creative methods.

    LAT Kids is the nickname of the LifeShare Assistive Technology Project, a ministry of The LifeShare Foundation in Jackson, Mississippi. Its mission is to better the lives of children with disabilities through the use of technology. LAT Kids offers downloads of all of the software and resources it develops, free of charge.

    Do2learn offers free games, songs, communication cards etc for children with special educational needs.

     

    SNOW (Special Needs Ontario Window) is the educational arm of ATRC, University of Toronto. The site offers Special Education Resources, A T Ideas and Innovations and ‘news’ for Kids, Parents and Community.

     

    ICTS

    The ICTS website provides resources for teachers dealing with special educational needs.

     

    EENET

    EENET is an information-sharing network on the issue of inclusive education. The network is open to everyone. We share information originating in countries of the South and encourage conversations and debates about inclusion and rights in education. This site offers information in various languages, for example, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic. 

    Nice Warm Socks

    Nice Warm Socks is a CD of songs for children and families to sing along with their voices or their VOCAs. A speech and language therapist, a music teacher and a professional musician collaborated to make the CD. The CD also lists many free resources and ideas for adaptating the songs for children who rely on AAC.
