Assistive Technology

The practice of AAC relies strongly on a team approach with the person who will be using AAC and his or her family being central to decision making. Speech generating devices, also know as voice output communication aids, and writing aids are ‘parts’ of an integrated AAC system designed to enhance an individual’s communication needs and lifestyle.

    ACTU

    ACTU provides assessments for the use of Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems to preschool and school aged children with learning disabilities and/or severe communication difficulties. The website is constantly being updated and a section for free downloadable resources is also available.

     

    LAT Kids is the nickname of the LifeShare Assistive Technology Project, a ministry of The LifeShare Foundation in Jackson, Mississippi. Its mission is to better the lives of children with disabilities through the use of technology. LAT Kids offers downloads of all of the software and resources it develops, free of charge.
