ISAAC Conducts Workshop in Dubai, April 2008

 

Sudha Kaul, President ISAAC and Executive Director of the Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP) in Kolkata, and Tessa Hamblin, Director of Rehabilitation & Therapy, IICP, were invited to the Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special needs in Dubai to conduct a five-day workshop on “Communication for All - Current Trends in AAC.” The Centre in Dubai is based in a well-equipped building catering to 240 students with cerebral palsy, learning difficulties and autism. The Director, Isphana Al Khatib, is a very dynamic woman and majority of the staff are of Indian origin.

Over 60 professionals attended the workshop, including speech therapists, special educators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychologists. At the inaugural session Sudha showcased ISAAC’s work across the world and invited Al Noor to join ISAAC and be part of the Build AAC worldwide initiative.
