The Center for Literacy and Disability Studies promotes literacy learning and use for individuals of all ages and disabilities in order to increase and enhance their educational opportunities, vocational success and communicative competence. The website offers free resources relating to reading and listening comprehension as well as ISAAC and Closing the Gap 2006 conference handouts.

 

International Reading Association provides educators and students access to best practices and resources in reading and language arts instruction. The site has lesson plans, teaching ideas, fun materials and links to other sites offering teaching, reading and writing resources.

 

Fostering Emergent Literacy for Children Who Require AAC.

Search the Emergent Literacy and AAC section on the American

Speech and Hearing Association website that is presently under

revision.

 

Bibliography: Literacy and AAC, Literacy and Disability.  ACCPC

offers an extensive list of articles on the development of literacy for

children who require augmentative communication.

 

News-2-you is a weekly online publication for beginning readers. The paper uses pictures and simple language throughout.
