The ISAAC (UK) / Communication Matters National Symposium is the UK's premier AAC annual event embracing a wide range of issues relating to augmentative and alternative communication. The two and a half day symposium provides a forum to meet and to exchange information with representatives from all disciplines associated with AAC, including people who use AAC and their family members. A wide range of topics will be addressed, from practical concerns and  personal experiences to the latest research and developments in AAC, such as: Adult acquired conditions and use of AAC, Low Tech solutions for schools, Mainstream real teaching situations especially in secondary school, AAC and the curriculum, personal experiences of people who use AAC, parent and enabler issues, advocacy, assessment, implementation and intervention, technical developments, employment and training, care in the community.

ARATA’s biennial conference provides a forum for exploring issues in and the value of assistive technology for people with disabilities and the ageing.  The conference will focus on enhancing and recognising the value of participation, through technology, of people with disabilities and those who are ageing. In keeping with world trends, all aspects of human activity will be considered - home, education, work and leisure. Participants will be able to experience the creativity that is possible through the effective use of technology. INFORMATION ABOUT CAAC
The 2008 Clinical AAC Research Conference (CAAC) on September 25 – 27, 2008 is the second annual forum created specifically for clinicians and researchers engaged in the study and clinical management of people who use augmentative and alternative communication. CAAC offers interaction opportunities with leading researchers providing unique insights into clinical research. All CAAC participants are required to present their original research and engage in comprehensive discussions with colleagues. To encourage a program conducive to the exchange of ideas, attendance will be limited to approximately 100 people. Those wishing to attend should submit a summary of an original paper or poster.

IASSID is an international, interdisciplinary scientific association (not for profit) and an NGO member of the World Health Organization (WHO), founded in 1964. IASSID is committed to enhancing the quality of life, health and wellbeing of people with intellectual disability and their families through scientific research and the application of research in both policy and everyday practice. IASSID publishes the Journal of Intellectual Disability Research (JIDR) and the Journal of Policy and Practice in Intellectual Disability (JPPID). IASSID has conducted 11 World Congresses and a number of regional conferences in Europe, South America and Asia. IASSID hosted the First Asia Pacific Regional Congress at Taiwan in 2005.
